Yoga at Home

How to set yourself up for a successful and consistent yoga practice at home.

Doing yoga at home can be such a soul fulfilling experience. When you are in your own space you have the freedom to practice without expectation and judgement. You can show up in your pjs, play your favorite playlist, and snuggle your pets in savasana. Doing yoga at home can save you time and money and can help you see the benefits of a consistent practice sooner than later.

Here are a few ways to set yourself up for success.

  1. Create a designated place to roll out your mat. Make it a place you love to be. Maybe it’s a place that gets a sun spot or a place that has a window. Maybe it’s a cozy corner you can set up some candles or crystals.

  2. Mark your calendar each week to make sure it’s a clean spot. Wipe down the baseboards, vacuum or sweep. Dust that shelf that is within view. I have found the mind easily wonders to “wow I really should clean that!” Just eliminate that from happening from the get go!

  3. Gather your props

  4. A good mat

  5. Yoga blocks

  6. A bolster or pillows

  7. A blanket

  8. A yoga strap

  9. Set the mood - put on your favorite playlist, diffuse your favorite essential oils, light your candles. Create a space that makes you take a sigh of comfort.

  10. Schedule the time and make the commitment. Write it on your calendar, make it a priority to show up. Imagine you are attending an in person class. Have enough respect for YOURSELF to show up on time just as you would for an outside teacher.

  11. Find a an online platform and teacher that you love. Find someone that you resonate with. Someone that makes you excited to show up.

  12. This is the most important step….JUST DO IT!
