How I found yoga and it changed my life

I am an independent woman, a jack of all trades, a lover of yoga and the culinary arts. I have a passion for teaching and sharing my gifts. I am a nature enthusiast and when I'm not teaching yoga, you can find me birding, hiking, and soaking up the beautiful outdoors. I'm an animal lover to the core, and have two sweet dogs who I consider some of the best teachers of unconditional love.

I am a single Mom of an amazing 21-year-old son whom I have been raising solo since he was 1. The bond we have is one of the most special in my life. I have spent most of my life waiting tables in the restaurant industry and have also been a 4th grade teacher and a nanny. These past careers have been the perfect combo to make teaching yoga a fulfilled

career for me-- service, teaching and passion all wrapped up into one.

Feeling resistant to trying yoga? So was I.....BUT, I am so glad I stuck with it! Here's my story and how I wound up at my first class despite my resistance.

My sister and my best friend dragged me to my first yoga class. I went reluctantly and actually hated my first class. At the time I was obsessed with Jillian Micheals cardio workout classes. I would do them almost daily in my living room. My body was stiff and tight. During my first class, my strong ego and drive enticed me to throw my body in all the advanced poses, while comparing myself to all of the other yogis. I went back out of pure desire to master the poses and keep up with the Boulder, Colorado yoga culture. Soon, I found myself going back because of the feeling I had AFTER yoga.

The feeling of empowered bliss and a knowing that this practice could bring me to a deep level of understanding myself and it could be the tool to help me conquer my fears to reignite my power to start living the life I dreamt of.
