Before I Buy All the Supplies...

If you know me, you know I love beginnings.
Give me a new hobby, a business idea, a creative project, or a healthy habit, and I'm all in.
For at least a few days.
Maybe a few weeks.
If it were up to me, I'd start something new every week.
The tricky part isn't getting excited.
The tricky part is knowing whether I'll still want to be doing it a month from now.
I've learned that if I'm not careful, I'll buy all the supplies before I've even decided if this new adventure is something I truly want to commit to. Apparently collecting equipment is one of my hobbies, too.
Healthy habits aren't much different.
You know that feeling when you decide, "Starting Monday I'm eating healthy."
Suddenly you're searching for recipes, making Pinterest boards, planning meal prep, organizing your grocery list, figuring out where everything fits into your schedule...
Until you're completely overwhelmed...
...and somehow you're eating a cupcake while trying to plan your healthy eating.
Please tell me I'm not the only one.
This is exactly why I appreciate the wisdom of Human Design Gate 53.
Gate 53 is the energy of new beginnings, but it reminds us that not every exciting idea needs to become an immediate commitment. A beginning is simply the first step in a cycle of growth.
I've learned that the strongest beginnings aren't the fastest ones.
They're the ones that are given enough time to develop.
That's why this week's yoga practice begins on the floor in Crocodile Pose before we ever stand up.
We slowly build Warrior II from the ground up, creating stability one layer at a time.
Only then do we move into High Crescent Lunge and eventually Warrior III.
It's a reminder that confidence doesn't appear after we leap.
Confidence grows from the foundation we create before we leap.
Maybe that's what Gate 53 has been teaching me all along.
I don't need fewer ideas.
I need stronger foundations.
Because when I slow down long enough to build something well, I also give myself enough time to discover whether this new beginning is truly meant for me.
Maybe your new beginning doesn't need more motivation.
Maybe it just needs a foundation strong enough to support where you're hoping to go.
Practice Along With Me
If you'd like to experience these principles in motion, I've created a 35-minute yoga practice inspired by Human Design Gate 53—The Gate of Beginnings. It's a complete practice designed to help you build a strong, steady foundation—one that supports greater confidence, momentum, and lasting change.
