Are You Giving From a Place of Depletion?

Lately I've been noticing a theme showing up in my life again.
Noticing where I am giving from.
Noticing where my energy is flowing.
Noticing whether I'm sharing my resources from a place of fullness or from a place of depletion.
And if I'm honest, this has been a lifelong lesson.
For most of my life, I believed being responsible meant handling everything myself.
Working harder.
Doing more.
Carrying the weight.
Being the strong one.
Maybe you can relate.
Maybe you've been the person everyone depends on.
The one who remembers the details.
The one who steps in when something needs to get done.
The one who keeps things moving.
And while there is beauty in being capable, there can also be a hidden cost.
Sometimes we become so focused on giving that we forget to tend to the source from which we give.
We keep pouring.
Keep helping.
Keep showing up.
Without pausing to notice whether our own cup is full.
Recently I've been reflecting on this in my own life.
Paying attention to the places where I feel energized and nourished.
Creating space for rest.
Making time for practices that refill me.
Choosing not to distribute my time, energy, attention, and resources from a place of exhaustion.
The truth is, sustainable generosity requires stewardship.
It requires caring for ourselves well enough that what we offer others comes from abundance rather than depletion.
And the more I pay attention, the more I realize that abundance isn't always about having more.
Sometimes abundance is simply having enough.
Enough energy.
Enough presence.
Enough clarity.
Enough capacity to share what we have been entrusted with.
In Human Design, this week's energy is connected to Gate 45, a theme centered around stewardship, leadership, community, and the wise distribution of resources.
At its highest expression, Gate 45 reminds us that true leadership isn't about giving until there's nothing left.
It's about tending to the resources in our care so they can continue to nourish both ourselves and the people we serve.
So this week, I invite you to reflect on a simple question:
Where in your life are you distributing resources from a place of depletion?
And what might need your attention so that you can fill your own cup first?
Because the most sustainable form of generosity begins with stewardship.
If you'd like to explore this theme more deeply, there are a few ways we can work together:
